About Me
Modern Medicine Saves Lives Every Day

I have had diabetes my entire life, and I am very thankful for the fact that modern medical discoveries have helped me live a happy, healthy life despite my disease. I have had to watch what I eat and take medications daily for most of my life, and while i used to feel like I was "missing out" when other children were able to eat sugary candy and I wasn't, I eventually learned that sugar-free candy tastes great. I am always keeping up on the latest diabetes research, and while researching, I have also learned about many other diseases and ailments and how they are treated and controlled. I know others are too busy to browse a bunch of medical websites, like I like to do, so I decided to start a blog that others can visit that contains information on a variety of medical topics all in one place!

3 Ways To Get Rid Of Plantar Warts

For Content

There is a searing pain in your foot every time you take a step, and you notice calluses that resemble fish eyes. You have foot warts. With every step, the warts get pushed deeper and deeper inside the soles of your feet, causing more pain.

Although it seems right now that you will never be free from the pain of foot warts, you don't have to suffer from the pain forever. Here are three options for plantar wart removal.

1. You can have your foot warts surgically removed.

The top method for getting rid of foot warts is surgical removal. After completely numbing your foot, the doctor then scrapes away the callus to reveal the inward-turned wart.

Next, your doctor may use a tiny tool that looks like a miniature ice cream scoop to carve out the wart from the bottom of your foot. The removed wart will then be sent to the lab to rule out a more serious condition.

While the thought of surgery can be somewhat scary at first, it is a totally safe procedure. It is also much more effective than other treatments that can prolong the pain you are experiencing.

2. You can have your foot warts chemically frozen in the office.

Over-the-counter products for freezing warts typically work great on your hands. However, the skin on the bottom of your foot is much thicker. The main problem with over-the-counter treatments is that the wart isn't sitting on the outside of your skin. Therefore, when you use the treatment, you aren't reaching the wart that is wedged deep inside your foot.

Your podiatrist can freeze off the warts with medical grade chemicals. Additionally, your doctor will remove the excess skin and calluses from your feet to reveal the wart for successful treatment.

3. You can have your foot warts injected with medicine to attack the virus.

Another option for getting rid of foot warts is to have your doctor inject the wart with a medicine. Since the foot wart is caused by the human papillomavirus, injecting medicine designed to attack the virus can result in the wart dying and drying up.

A Few Final Thoughts

Foot warts are caused by a virus and thus can spread. Wash your hands after touching your feet. Also, be careful not to pumice the affected area, as you don't want to increase the amount of plantar warts you have. It is recommended to have your foot warts surgically removed first before undergoing a pedicure.
