Modern Medicine Saves Lives Every Day

I have had diabetes my entire life, and I am very thankful for the fact that modern medical discoveries have helped me live a happy, healthy life despite my disease. I have had to watch what I eat and take medications daily for most of my life, and while i used to feel like I was "missing out" when other children were able to eat sugary candy and I wasn't, I eventually learned that sugar-free candy tastes great. I am always keeping up on the latest diabetes research, and while researching, I have also learned about many other diseases and ailments and how they are treated and controlled. I know others are too busy to browse a bunch of medical websites, like I like to do, so I decided to start a blog that others can visit that contains information on a variety of medical topics all in one place!

Got Back Pain? 3 Low-Impact Exercises That Will Help Reduce or Eliminate Your Pain

For Content

Chronic pain is a huge problem for Americans. Millions are in pain each and every day of their lives. While the cause of pain varies, the majority of complaints involve the lower back. In fact, more people under the age of 45 are disabled due to back issues than for any other issue. What's more, lower back pain can make it difficult for you to do the things you like to do and can lower your quality of life. Fortunately, you don't have to live with back pain indefinitely. There are several treatment approaches that work. Regular exercise is one of them. Following are a few exercises that will help with your pain.

Simple Stretches

Stretching helps loosen stiff muscles, which may be contributing to your back pain. It also increases your flexibility and range of motion. Common lower back stretches include bringing your knees to your chest for a count of 20 seconds. Arching your spine like a cat also helps. If you're not sure what exercises are good for you and your particular condition, talk to your doctor. They will give you a list of exercises that you can do a few times a day.

Beginner Yoga

Yoga poses offer the same benefits as stretching. Yoga helps relieve back tension as well as strengthens muscles. Yoga can help improve your balance and posture, and improved balance and posture will help you move better throughout the day. Yoga is also a great stress reliever and can help you relax. When doing yoga for back pain, don't try the intricate poses. Start with the basics first. Take a class or watch a video for beginners to get some ideas.

Strength Training

If you have back pain due to a spinal injury or spinal deformity, strengthen your back muscles. This will help immensely. A stronger back helps keep your spine aligned and makes it easier for you to perform daily activities. All activities that strengthen your core are good for your back. Core exercises include planks, abdominal crunches, and squats. You may also want to consider going to the gym. The rowing machine is perfect for strengthening core muscles.

If you suffer from lower back pain, you can reduce it or eliminate it by sticking to a dedicated exercise regimen. As always, talk to your doctor before beginning any new exercise program. They will be able to tell you which exercises you should do and which ones you should avoid.
